First of all…. What is Massage Therapy? As per the Mayo Clinic

https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/massage-therapy/about/pac-20384595

“In massage therapy, a trained, certified medical professional (massage therapist) manipulates the soft tissues of your body — muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and skin. The massage therapist uses varying degrees of pressure and movement.”

Prior to our first session, you will fill out an intake form. This is where you tell me about yourself, your health history, allergies, any injuries or areas that bother you. When you come in for your appt, we go over the intake form and discuss your needs and wants. What you want to get from the massage. Is it for relaxation or does something need to be fixed? Then I step out of the room while you (the client) gets undressed to your level of comfort. Then you slide under the sheet, face up… (fully covered by the sheet). I then knock to make sure that you are ready to proceed. You are asked what type of pressure you would like but at any given moment if the pressure is too much or too little I need to know. Communication is key and will save us a lot of heartache and trouble. I also need to add that at any point and time that an innapropriate comment is made or if I am made to feel uncomfortable in any way the appt ceases immediately. Massage has gotten a bad reputation with all of the sexual innuendos in movies etc.

When the massage is over, I step out and the client gets dressed and exits the room. We then discuss my findings and some at home techniques that may help you in between massages.

This has been quite the boring blog but needed to be said, lol.
